A highlight of the activities is recognition of the AVUHSD Classified Employee of the Year Program. From a group of nominees, each site chooses one nominee to serve as their Site Classified Employee of the Year. A district level committee comprised of employees from various fields such as clerical, maintenance, food service, computer/technical, and paraprofessionals then further selects one of them as the overall AVUHSD Classified Employee of the Year .

The nomination period for 2008 is closed. It will reopen February 2009. Actual recipients of awards are announced at the annual Employee Recognition Ceremony. Please keep in mind that NOT ALL nominees can be chosen for an award. The volunteer voting committees are comprised of fellow classified employees who have the difficult decision of selecting the award recipients from all of the outstanding nominees. To assist the committees, please be sure to include specific examples, stories, and background materials that fully support the reasoning for the nomination. Blank and unsigned forms, or forms without supporting documentation or explanation are difficult to consider and weigh against those that are complete and list full background and supporting information.
