Teacher Intern Program: AVUHSD
works with local universities to offer support to beginning teachers while they
work toward a Preliminary Teaching Credential. While an intern, new teachers
work with a teaching coach to help ensure a smooth transition into the profession.
Interns continue taking university courses while being paid to teach in their
own classrooms.Designed for high school full time on-the-job emergency teachers
in the Antelope Valley Union High School District. Special Features of the Program:>Intern/Teacher

Beginning Teacher Support
and Assessment (BTSA): Senate
Bill 2042 states that completion of a Commission-approved induction program
is the required route to earn and SB 2042 professional clear multiple or single
subject teaching credential. AVUHSD offers the Beginning Teacher Support and
Assessment Induction program free of charge to employees that enter the program
within the first two years of holding a Preliminary Teaching Credential. This
job-embedded professional development is supported by an experienced teacher/mentor
who helps the induction candidate clear his/her California Teaching Credential.

Learning
to Teach Program:
Current AVUHSD paraprofessionals are encouraged to contact 661) 948-7655 ext
233 for information on the Teacher Track Program. The Teacher Track program
is a career ladder designed to obtain Special Education Teachers from current
in-house staff. The program offers appropriate coursework through approved universities
and colleges to completion of all teaching requirements. In exchange for schooling,
participating paraprofessionals promise to teach for AVUHSD for a certain number
of years subject to program requirements.
This program is dependent on continued funding, but has already produced
several teachers for the AVUHSD.
