PERSONAL COMPUTER REPAIR TECHNICIAN

CLASS DEFINITION: Under supervision perform duties relating to the operation, maintenance and support of the network workstations. Assist Network Technician with backup procedures, work with school staff to maintain and support the classroom and office workstations at school site, and perform related duties as required.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist classroom teachers and other site personnel in solving both video and computer system problems.  Assist with loading of files into the classroom computers.  Assist in maintaining site technology inventory.  Maintain records in district work order database and initiate RMA procedures.  Assists in the implementation of enhancements and or maintenance of current software.    Provide direct peripheral support to end-users.  Assists in maintaining compliance with copyright laws.  Surplus excess and nonfunctional equipment to district warehouse.   Perform repairs on personal computers.   Assist network technician as required.   Perform other various duties as assigned.

DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:   

Experience:                 One (1) year experience maintaining Personal Computers.  Must have working knowledge of, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT Workstation. 

Education:                   Completion of 12th grade or equivalent

Knowledge of:             Current network technology, operating systems, procedures and standards.

Ability to:                        Analyze and repair personal computers.  Install personal computer operating systems and  software, connect personal computers to local area network. Communicate by written response, and verbally to all involved parties. Maintain records and distribute to interested personnel.             Prepare reports and presentations.  Troubleshoot network as well as local PC problems. Interact positively with department staff and outside personnel.

 PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Visual ability to read handwritten or typed documents, instructions, the display screen of various equipment and machines, and blueprints and schematics. Able to conduct verbal conversation. Able to hear normal range verbal conversation (approximately 60 decibels). Able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and walk. Able to climb slopes, stairs, steps and ladders. Able to push and/or pull a variety of tools, equipment and objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Able to lift up to 40 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally. Able to carry up to 40 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally. Able to sustain strenuous manual labor for 8 hours. Able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder external rotation and internal rotation. Able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder abduction and adduction. Able to exhibit full range of motion for elbow flexion and extension. Able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder extension and flexion. Able to exhibit full range of motion for back lateral flexion. Able to exhibit full range of motion for hip flexion and extension. Able to exhibit full range of motion for knee flexion. Able to work at various elevated heights on ladders, scaffolding, rigging and roofs in a safe and effective manner. Able to work in restricted spaces in a safe and effective manner. Able to work with a variety of chemical agents in a safe and effective manner without allergic reaction. Able to demonstrate manual dexterity necessary to perform fine maintenance procedures and operate both manual and power hand tools in a safe and effective manner. Able to operate a variety of powered industrial vehicles, equipment, and tools associated with building repair, maintenance, preventative maintenance and construction in a safe and effective manner. Able to operate a variety of maintenance motor vehicles in a safe and effective manner.

REQUIRED TO: Posses a valid California Motor Vehicle Operators License, proper insurance, and maintain a driving record satisfactory to the District. Pass a required pre‑employment physical examination regarding this position. Submit to fingerprint testing through the California Bureau of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
