ArtsEdNet: The Getty Center for Education in the Arts
- This outstanding Web site offers state-of-the-art arts
information: from background knowledge for instructors using a
discipline-based arts education approach, to some of the few
truly excellent online activities for students, to an elegant
presentation of artistic images. Lesson plans are grouped by
age level.

- This is one of the largest and finest art museums in the
world. The collections on view at any time span 5,000 years of
world culture, from prehistory to the present. The site is
designed to give an overview of the collections currently on
display in the museum's galleries.

- The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco have eveloped an image
database containing over 50% of their collections. Committed
to posting 100% of their combined artsworks, the search engine
provides access to over 70,000 images. A history link is also
included. Look through a growing list of exhibits such as Beat
Culture and the New America.

- A good first stop on an online art tour, this site offers
online exhibitions. A famous painting exhibition includes an
artist index, glossary, themes index, short biographies of the
artist, and summaries of the works. Themes are divided by
historical dates and by types of 20th century art. There is
also a special exhibit of Medieval art. Click on the thumbnail
paintings to enlarge them, but be prepared for long download
times.
