[Student Responsibility][Textbook Fines] [Answers to Questions]

First Steps

Students must have a current school picture ID card in their possession to check out a textbook.

Students are recommended to cover each textbook and free book covers are available in most Library Media Centers.

Student Responsibility

Check Upon receiving their books students should examine their books and report any damages to the library/textbook clerk immediately. Damages not immediately reported could result in fines to the student's account.

Check Students are responsible for the individual textbooks they check out and should not leave them lying around or loan them to their friends. If their book is taken, even from the classroom, they are responsible and may have to pay for the book. Textbooks can cost over $150.00 each. Teachers are not responsible for books left in a classroom.

Check When students or family members return books, they should wait for the clerk to scan each book and make sure they are returning the actual book that they checked out. They should not just leave books at the library counter or at any school office and walk away.

Check All textbooks checked out at the beginning of the school year are due back to the textbook depository by the last day of the school year. In the event that a student drops a class or leaves school during the year, their books should be returned immediately.

Check Excessive damage to a book caused by any of the above, or any damage that causes the book to be in unusable condition, will result in the student being charged the replacement cost of the book.

Check How do I get another textbook if mine is lost or stolen?

Check As soon as you pay the replacement cost of the textbook, you can show the receipt at the textbook depository and get another one. If you need time to pay the costs, you can set up a payment schedule with your Vice-Principal in order to obtain another book.

Check When do I have to pay fines and replacement costs ?
