Library Orientation and Library Quiz

– All students are presented with the Library Web Site information through the English Department in the first semester of their freshman year. Students then take a Library Quiz. Students failing to reach 70% on the quiz should be strongly encouraged to use the Library Web Site to find the correct answers to missed questions. The Library Quiz, which is based on the Web Site information, provides an assessment tool that supports the Information Literacy Standards. If you want to do a Library Orientation with your classes, the Library Quiz is available from the Library Media Technician.

It is suggested that English teachers teach to the Library Quiz during the first two weeks of the fall semester.

If the material on the Library Web Site were presented to the upper classes, this would provide the student with a clear, fresh update to using the library. New teachers may also find it helpful to review the Library Web Site with students whenever needed. Students gain valuable information literacy skills when they visit the Library and the Library Web Site regularly.
