Students are recommended to cover each textbook and free book covers are available in most Library Media Centers.
Students are responsible for the individual textbooks they check out and should not leave them lying around or loan them to
their friends. If their book is taken, even from the classroom, they are responsible and may have to pay for the book.
Textbooks can cost over $150.00 each. Teachers are not responsible for books left in a classroom.
When students or family members return books, they should wait for the clerk to scan each book and make
sure they are returning the actual book that they checked out. They should not
just leave books at the library counter or at any school office and walk away.
All textbooks checked out at the beginning of the school year are due back to the
textbook depository by the last day of the school year. In the event that a
student drops a class or leaves school during the year, their books should be returned immediately.

How do I get another textbook if mine is lost or stolen?
As soon as you pay the replacement cost of the textbook, you can show the
receipt to the Library Media Technician and get another one. If you need time to
pay the costs, you can set up a payment schedule with your Library Media Technician in order
to obtain another book.
When do I have to pay fines and replacement costs ?
The student's Library Media Technician will make a determination as to how and when
the charges should be paid. Students are normally required to pay for textbooks
that are lost or damaged as soon as possible.
What if I pay for a book and then it is found?
When a lost book is paid for and later found and returned to the Library Media Technician,
a refund slip will be issued and the school bookkeeper will issue a check request. A
refund will be mailed from the district to the student's parent or guardian.
