The Superintendent or designee shall issue work permits only as allowed by law and only to the extent that outside employment does not significantly interfere with the student's schoolwork. Students granted work permits must demonstrate and maintain satisfactory grades and attendance before and after work permits are issued:
a. Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA and no more than 9 absences in any two classes in order to get a "clear" work permit. If GPA drops below 2.0 or a student has 10 or more absences in two classes, the student will be put on a contract, and the employer will be notified.
b. If a student missed more than 15 days in two or more classes, the work permit will be revoked. Parents and employers will be notified. Students who have been denied work permits due to attendance must work with the work experience coordinator to be reinstated.
c. All students are eligible for a work permit in September and summer vacation regardless of their school performance the preceding school year. A student starts with a clear record each school year.
