Regional Occupational Programs (ROP)
The Regional Occupational Programs (ROP) train students for entry-level employment and help them upgrade skills through advanced training. Course offerings are based on current and future labor market demands. The purpose of ROP is to provide:

+ skill training in current and emerging occupations
+ classroom and work-based (on-the-job) training
+ counseling and guidance in job / career preparation
+ advanced training for students to upgrade skills
+ favorable ratio of pupils to teachers

ROP provides practical, hands-on job training and career guidance. Students are trained in the basic skills needed for a particular job. Some classes include community-based on-the-job training in local businesses and industry. Every course offers a unit on employment-seeking skills, which includes the job application, resume and interview processes. Career counseling is available to assess and improve the student's job preparation skills.

ROP is a public education service. It is primarily state-funded, based on average daily attendance (ADA) generated by students. The Antelope Valley Union High School District administers the program. Courses are generally tuition-free for high school juniors and seniors, low-cost for out-of-school youth and adults. Teachers have education and work experience specific to the courses they teach.
