Course Description:
Fire Technology provides classroom, hands-on and community based instruction to prepare students for careers in fire-fighting and fire technology. It provides a solid skill base for entry positions and the career ladder for fire fighting related jobs. A community classroom component provides students the opportunity to experience various aspects of fire service.

Competencies
*Display knowledge of fire service apparatus & equipment
*Demonstrate the ability to use extinguishing agents
*Demonstrate an understanding of fire behavior
*Understand types of building construction and fire service
*Demonstrate proper use of protective equipment
*Display proper use of ropes, knots and tools
*Display proper use of hose, nozzle and fittings
*Demonstrate proper search and rescue techniques
*Understand ventilation related to fire service
*Demonstrate proper handling of hazardous materials
*Obtain CPR and First Aid certification
