Course Description: The course builds on the Level I course by emphasizing job skills, interpersonal skills, continuing instruction in professional subjects and recertification in Am Heart Assoc, Basic Life Support, CPR. This internship course’s clinical instruction is delivered one-on-one in a medical office, clinic, etc with a personalized training plan. Students completing the course can: challenge the Medical Terminology courses at AVC; take the Certified Medical Assistant Examination; receive a certificate in Phlebotomy and injections; receive training certificates in ECG. Students completing the course will be able to work in similar facilities as they continue their education at technical or professional institutions. This course meets the requirement for the Senior Seminar course.
Competencies:

*Competency in AHA BLS CPR and receive AED training
*Document industry required immunizations, medical tests.
*Demonstrate characteristics of a successful professional
*Determine the parameters for taking health history, physical and vital signs
*Infection control procedures
*Determine medical terms utilized in health care functions
*Assimilate the procedures to take, compile & read EKG’s
