Course Description:
Medical back office job preparation prepares students to assist the
doctor in actual patient treatment. Course includes necessary knowledge of medical
ethics and professionalism, infection control, EKG, symptoms and diseases, emergencies,
anatomy and physiology, light lab, pharmacology, sterilization, injections,
procedures for assisting general practice and some specialties.
Students may earn Phlebotomy Assistant Certificate
On completion of course, will be eligible to sit for the CA State Exam for Medical
Assistant/Clinical
Competencies
*Perform an EKG
*Demonstrate taking vital signs
*Knowledge of patient record keeping
*Obtain CPR certification (optional)
*Identify pharmacology principles to prepare and administer oral and parenteral
medications
*Assist with physical exams
*Perform venipuncture
