More than 2,000 middle and ninth-grade students from throughout the Antelope Valley attended the 25th "Salute to Youth: The Career Connection" event presented by the Antelope Valley Union High School District. The event introduces students to a variety of career and education opportunities available after high school graduation.
Students enjoyed meeting NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center Test Pilot Nils Larson and Lockheed Martin's Mars Experience Bus that gives student riders an interactive adventure that simulates a drive along the Red Planet's surface.
Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Edwards Air Force Base, The Spaceship Company, Kaiser Permanente and Antelope Valley Hospital were also among the participating organizations.
The AV Career Prep Council, along with local business industry and government leaders brought together exhibitors who provided hands-on demonstrations and engaging displays that excited students about possibilities for futures in entry, technical and professional level jobs.
