Antelope Valley Union High School District

A Letter from Superintendent Dr. David J. Vierra to AVUHSD Employees

Dear AVUHSD Employees,

As I reflect on the events that transpired on Friday at Highland High School, I am grateful for the tremendous efforts of our staff, law enforcement and our first responders. I am also grateful that our injured student is on the road to recovery.

Furthermore, I am proud of how well our District worked together - showing strength in numbers for our students, staff and families,  and proud to be part of a community that came together instantaneously as we received support and offers of assistance from members of our local, regional, state and national community.

We all are affected by what occurred and will be looking at our work somewhat differently now. Please know that we are here to support you.

Thank you for pulling together in this difficult time and for your hard work and dedication to the students, staff and families of our District.  I am confident we will continue to come together these next few weeks to support one another as we reach the culmination of another school year.
