ANTI-BULLYING

The Governing Board acknowledges the detrimental impact bullying has on student learning and school attendance and is committed to ensuring a safe and supportive school environment where students are protected from both physical and emotional harm. District employees will prioritize student safety and maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward bullying of any kind. No individual or group shall harass, sexually harass, threaten, intimidate, retaliate, cyberbully, cause bodily injury, or engage in hate violence against any student or school personnel through physical, verbal, written, or other means. Students are encouraged to promptly inform school staff if they are being bullied or if they suspect another student is experiencing bullying. Cyberbullying includes the creation or electronic transmission of harassing communications, direct threats, or harmful texts, sounds, or images as outlined in Education Code 48900. It also includes accessing another person's electronic account to impersonate them with the intent to harm their reputation. All bullying complaints will be investigated, and if found discriminatory, addressed in compliance with the law and District's Uniform Complaint Procedures (AR 1312.3). If a complaint is found to be non-discriminatory, the principal or designee will inform the complainant and take appropriate measures to resolve the issue. Any student, parent/guardian, or individual who believes a student has been subjected to bullying, or who has witnessed an incident, is encouraged to report it to a teacher, the principal, a compliance officer, or any available school employee.
