Multilingual Department Hosts Parent Workshops!

The Multilingual Department has been hard at work hosting a variety of workshops just for you! We’ve covered fantastic topics, including Tony Orozo and Discplina Positiva, tools to help your child stay on track for graduation, and recently, we wrapped up with a great session, Financing the Future. Financial aid, scholarships, CADAA, and more were discussed. Over 150 parents like you have already joined us!

El Departamento Multilingüe ha estado trabajando arduamente para ofrecer una variedad de talleres especialmente para ustedes. Hemos cubierto temas fantásticos, como Tony Orozco y Disciplina Positiva, herramientas para ayudar a su hijo a mantenerse en el camino hacia la graduación, y recientemente concluimos con una excelente sesión, Financiando el Futuro. Se cubrio la ayuda financiera, becas, CADAA y más. ¡Más de 150 padres como ustedes ya se han unido a nosotros!

Los invitamos cordialmente a asistir a nuestra próxima reunión DELAC el 31 de octubre, donde compartiremos actualizaciones importantes sobre las pruebas y más. ¡No se pierdan esta oportunidad de mantenerse informados y continuar apoyando el éxito de sus hijos!

On May 22nd, 2024, our AVUHSD Multilingual and Migrant Education Department proudly celebrated the graduation of over 100 students in our program! The heartwarming event was filled with outstanding student performances, inspiring guest speakers, and well-deserved student recognitions that highlighted their ability to overcome challenges as well as their many triumphs.

Our Distinguished Student Speaker, Kevin Hernandez, moved to the Antelope Valley from El Salvador just three years ago. Kevin is now a proud Bruin as he is on his way to UCLA! He gave thanks to the support of his family, friends, and school community!

Our talented pianist, Ronald Giron, on top of dedicating himself to supporting his family back home in Guatemala, maintained academic excellence! Ronald has been accepted to Cal State Northridge, Cal State San Bernardino, and Cal State Channel Islands!

We are beyond proud of each and every one of our students and eagerly await to hear about their future achievements! Congratulations to the Class of 2024! We have been incredibly honored with the privilege to have seen your growth, strength, and accomplishments!

DELAC ended the school year on a high note! We celebrated the incredible events and outstanding student achievements throughout the year. Thank you to all the families for your continued support. See you next year!

¡DELAC terminó el año escolar con gran éxito! Celebramos los increíbles eventos y los logros sobresalientes de los estudiantes a lo largo del año. Gracias a todas las familias por su continuo apoyo. ¡Nos vemos el próximo año!

On March 20th, the Multilingual Department held an informative workshop focused on financing secondary education for our students. Welcoming over 45 parents, the workshop featured breakout theme sessions, interactive activities, and resource stations. Parents actively engaged in discussions, gained insights into financial aid applications, and explored additional topics. We extend our gratitude to all attendees and look forward to your presence at our upcoming events!

El 20 de marzo, el Departamento Multilingüe organizó un taller informativo centrado en financiar la educación secundaria para nuestros estudiantes. Con la asistencia de más de 45 padres, el taller incluyó sesiones de temas específicos, actividades interactivas y estaciones de recursos. Los padres participaron activamente en discusiones, adquirieron información sobre solicitudes de ayuda financiera y exploraron temas adicionales. Extendemos nuestro agradecimiento a todos los asistentes y esperamos contar con su presencia en nuestros próximos eventos! 

The AV Migrant Education Consortium is excited to partner with California State University San Bernardino once again, delivering the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) to our devoted parents. On Saturday, March 2nd, more than 20 parents eagerly engaged in the initial exams, demonstrating their steadfast commitment and resilience. Their unwavering dedication fills us with immense pride! Since October 2023, over 40 parents have embarked on this inspiring journey toward advancing their education.  

In addition to their commitment to academic advancement, parents enthusiastically engaged in our weekly technology classes, honing their computer skills and digital literacy. Through hands-on practice and interactive learning sessions, they delved into various aspects of technology, empowering themselves with essential digital tools and knowledge.   

El Consorcio de Educación Migrante del AV se complace en nuevamente colaborar con la Universidad Estatal de California de San Bernardino, ofreciendo el Programa de Equivalencia de Escuela Secundaria (HEP) a nuestros dedicados padres. El sábado 2 de marzo, más de 20 padres participaron con entusiasmo en los exámenes iniciales, demostrando su firme compromiso y resiliencia. ¡Su dedicación inquebrantable nos llena de un inmenso orgullo! Desde octubre de 2023, más de 40 padres han emprendido este inspirador viaje hacia el avance de su educación.  

Además de su compromiso con el avance académico, los padres participaron entusiastamente en nuestras clases semanales de tecnología, perfeccionando sus habilidades informáticas y alfabetización digital. A través de actividades prácticas y sesiones de aprendizaje interactivas, exploraron varios aspectos de la tecnología, empoderándose con herramientas y conocimientos digitales esenciales.

The Multilingual Team began the second semester with an amazing informative DELAC Meeting with presentations from AV Adult ED, SYCAMORE, and our wonderful counseling office. With a combined virtual and in-person attendance of over 120 parents, our meeting was full of information, questions, and collaboration. Please join us for our next meeting on March 6th!

El equipo multilingüe comenzó el segundo semestre con una increíble reunión informativa de DELAC con presentaciones de AV Adult ED, SYCAMORE y nuestra maravillosa oficina de consejería. Con una asistencia combinada virtual y en persona de más de 120 padres, nuestra reunión estuvo llena de información, preguntas y colaboración. ¡Únase a nosotros en nuestra próxima reunión el 6 de marzo!

In a remarkable 12-week learning experience, English Language Development (ELD) students embarked for the first time on a transformative journey with Wolf Connection, culminating in a visit to the wolves' camp where profound connections were made. The program, designed to foster personal growth, communication skills, and a sense of community, left an indelible mark on the participating students. The visit to the camp was amazing, where these majestic creatures became the conduits for the students to share and connect with their own stories.During reflective sessions, the students expressed how the wolves' stories mirrored their own struggles and triumphs, creating a powerful bridge between human and animal experiences. The symbolic lessons of resilience, cooperation, and adaptability echoed profoundly with the ELD students, providing a unique lens through which they could reflect on their own journeys as English language learners.

En una notable experiencia de aprendizaje de 12 semanas, los estudiantes de Desarrollo del Idioma Inglés (ELD) se embarcaron en un viaje transformador por primera vez con Wolf Connection, que culminó con una visita al campamento de los lobos donde se hicieron conexiones profundas. El programa, diseñado para fomentar el crecimiento personal, las habilidades de comunicación y un sentido de comunidad, dejó una huella imborrable en los estudiantes participantes. La visita al campamento fue increíble, donde estas majestuosas criaturas se convirtieron en conductos para que los estudiantes compartieran y conectaran con sus propias historias.
Durante las sesiones de reflexión, los estudiantes expresaron cómo las historias de los lobos reflejaban sus propias luchas y triunfos, creando un poderoso puente entre las experiencias humanas y de los animales. Las lecciones simbólicas de resiliencia, cooperación y adaptabilidad resonaron profundamente en los estudiantes de ELD, brindándoles una visiom única a través de la cual pudieron reflexionar sobre sus propias experiencias como estudiante aprendizes de inglés.

The Antelope Valley Migrant Education Program and Multilingual Department hosted a student and parent workshop on October 28th with author and international speaker, Erica Alfaro. Erica shared her success story as a migrant student and English Language Learner and families participated in an engaging conversation with the author. Student received an autographed book and were able to discuss their educational journeys. 

El Programa de Educación Migrante y el Departamento Multilingüe  organizaron un taller para estudiantes y padres el 28 de octubre con la autora y oradora internacional, Erica Alfaro. Erica compartió su historia de éxito como estudiante migrante y aprendice de Ingles. Las familias participaron en una interesante conversación con la autora y los estudiantes recibieron un libro autografiado despues de compartir sus metas educativas.

La ultima junta de DELAC fue un exito total. Celebramos el mes de la herencia Hispana y se compartio importante informacion. Gracias por su asistencia y colaboracion!
