Desert Pathways High School (DPHS) is a proud member of the Antelope Valley Union High School District with a unique mission: to provide excellent academic instruction as well as therapeutic support for at-risk students with significant mental health and/or behavioral needs. Desert Pathways High School provides an intensive, therapeutic environment with integrated mental health services for our student population alongside quality academic instruction and student support services.
Desert Pathways faculty and staff are committed to ensuring that all students learn the school’s core values of respect, accountability, productivity, and integrity as taught through the Boys Town Social Skills curriculum. Boy’s Town is a specialized classroom management, a researched-based system that allows DPHS staff to connect with, motivate, and teach critical social skills to students who often have experienced multiple or repeated failures in school. Additionally, Desert Pathways teachers concurrently teach high-quality academics based on each student’s individualized needs. Although some students will complete their high school graduation requirements at Desert Pathways, our faculty and staff work enthusiastically with each student on the successful acquisition of social and emotional skills and academic coursework so that all students can earn the opportunity to return to their home school for completion of graduation requirements.
Desert Pathways is dedicated to supporting not only our students but their families as well. DP partners with a multitude of service providers including the Department of Child Services, Valley Child Guidance Clinics, the Department of Mental Health, Probation, Regional Center, Educationally Related Intensive Counseling Services (ERICS), and Collaborative Educational Services (COEDS). The DPHS team is proud of the relationships we build between teachers, staff, students, families, and the surrounding community!
